iheed’s Chief Product and Operations Officer Champions Inclusive Online Learning at QQI Event

Last week, Barbara Coen, iheed’s Chief Product and Operations Officer, delivered a compelling talk at the “Discussions on Good Practice in Online and Transnational Programmes” event, hosted by the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI) on Kildare Street. Organised by Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI), the event gathered educators from across Ireland to explore the challenges and opportunities for online and transnational learning in a post-pandemic world. 

The event highlighted best practices and lessons learned in online and blended learning. Attendees, with varied experience in delivering online education, engaged in lively discussions on quality assurance, maintaining academic integrity, and upholding excellence in teaching and assessment. 

Barbara’s presentation, titled “Designing Accessible and Inclusive Online Learning Environments,” addressed critical factors for successful online programme design. She underscored the importance of curriculum design tailored to diverse learning needs and styles, the creation of accessible content, faculty engagement, and a student-centred approach to all aspects of programme delivery. 

Through her insights, Barbara emphasised that creating inclusive, high-quality online learning environments is essential for meeting the needs of today’s learners and fostering educational equity in the digital age.
