Dr Martina Schembri

Dr.Martina Schembri M.D, PhD, MRCPI, EBCOG-EFOG, is a Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist working at Mater Dei Hospital, Malta. She obtained her M.D. at the University of Malta in 2008 and started training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2010. She went on to complete her training and obtain her specialisation in 2017, having worked in Malta, the UK and the Republic of Ireland. In 2021 she obtained her PhD with the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Malta, with her research focusing on the use of the thermographic imaging in pregnancy.  

Whilst her area of interest is mainly obstetrics and high-risk pregnancies, she also practices general gynaecology, mostly focusing on benign gynaecological issues such as contraception, menstrual problems, ovarian pathology and uro-gynaecology.

Dr.Schembri has always enjoyed teaching and tries to deliver tutorials and lectures having the patient in the forefront. She has a longstanding experience with teaching medical students and local trainees. She has helped set up the local training programme and organised weekly tutorial plans to keep trainees engaged. She is also routinely part of the organisation and delivery of ‘Emergency Skills and Drills’ training for her local Obstetric staff. She is excited to now have the opportunity to contribute to the Diploma in Women’s Health.
