Dr Anabela Serranito

Dr. Serranito is a Obstetrics and Gynaecology consultant, presently working at the Coombe Women and Infants University Hospital and Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise. She completed her medical degree at the Medical School of the University of Lisbon and concluded her training as a Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2012, in Portugal. She has been working in Ireland since 2018.

Apart from her clinical activity Dr. Serranito has special interest in Quality improvement, Patient safety and training. She has an active role in training both junior doctors and midwives and is a trainer for the Royal College of Physicians in Ireland.  She holds a Diploma in Leadership and Quality in Healthcare. She is clinical lead of the new Ambulatory Gynaecology unit at the Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise (MRHP), which she developed.  Dr. Serranito is a member of the Serious incident Management team and represents the MRHP at the Dublin Midlands Hospital Group maternity service’s serious incident forum.  She is also PROMPT trainer and facilitator for the National Healthcare Communication Programme.

Dr. Serranito has just recently completed her Master’s degree in patient safety and healthcare simulation with the National University of Ireland Galway, with a thesis focused on innovative models to improve team work in an emergency setting.
