Uche Ikenyei
Uche has over 16 years of dedicated expertise in enhancing evidence-based decision-making within global health programs, with a primary focus on designing and overseeing Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) systems across various multimillion-dollar donor-funded development programs. With extensive experience spanning Nigeria and Canada, Uche consistently demonstrates his ability to leverage healthcare data to drive operational and strategic program decisions while enhancing the performance of national health systems and shaping country policy.
His career highlights include spearheading MEL teams working organizations that aim at mitigating the impact of HIV/AIDS, malaria, and antimicrobial resistance (AMR), alongside endeavors to bolster reproductive health, maternal and child health outcomes, and the utilization of family planning commodities and immunization services at both sub national and national levels.
Uche's commitment to capacity-building extends beyond programmatic endeavors, as he actively engages in strengthening the skill sets of healthcare professionals to elevate their ability to provide quality healthcare services in poor resourced and underdeveloped communities. A seasoned academic, since 2019 till date, he serves as a lecturer in the Global Health Systems program at Western University in Canada and tutors students enrolled in the Master of Public Health programs at the University of Warwick through the iHeed program.
As a prolific contributor to the discourse on infectious disease pandemic preparedness and response, Uche has shared his insights at numerous international conferences and has published insightful contributions in peer-reviewed journals. His multifaceted expertise, coupled with his passion for nurturing the next generation of global health leaders, underscores his invaluable contributions to the field.
Uche has a PhD in Health Information Sciences from Western University in Canada, a Master’s degree in Epidemiology, and Bachelor’s degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria.
