Dr Cathal Ó Broin


Dr. Cathal Ó Broin is a consultant in Infectious Diseases at St Vincent's University Hospital, Dublin.  He is the clinical lead for the sexual health, HIV prevention support (PrEP) and MPOX service at SVUH and has a special interest in health service development and education. He is the RCPI clinical lead for the diploma in Infectious Diseases and co-director of the STI Foundation educational programme at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital. In partnership with his colleague Prof Aoife Cotter, he is the module coordinator in Global Health in a Masters programme in Politics and International Development at UCD. He is working with UEMS on the development of a standardised European Infectious Diseases examination and with EACS on the development of a HIV curriculum and diploma examination. He is a member of the National Clinical Advisory Group in Sexual Health, national HIV Prevention strategy group and national MPOX Clinical Advisory Group. He also sits on the National Immunisation Advisory Committee (NIAC) for Ireland, who develop immunisation guidelines nationally.  He supports equitable, global access to vaccines and healthcare.
