Dr Farhad Handjani
Consultant Dermatologist
Dr. Farhad Handjani was professor of dermatology, former chairman of the Department of Dermatology as well as the former head of the Molecular Dermatology Research Center, at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences in Shiraz, Iran. He is also the Past- President of the Iranian Society of Dermatology and was co- secretary of the National Iranian Board of Dermatology, which handles the drafting and implementation of the dermatology residency curriculum and is responsible for the national dermatology board examinations. His main interests in dermatology include medical dermatology, infectious skin diseases, quality of life studies as well as skin pigmentary disorders. Dr Handjani has also been involved in research activities in the field of dermatology and has over 70 published papers in renown international journals. He has also been an invited guest speaker as well as chairperson at many national and international dermatology congresses. In addition to his academic achievements, he has also been trained as a GCP Clinical Monitor by WHO/TDR and has monitored both vaccine and drug clinical trials in several countries for WHO/TDR and WHO/IVR. He is currently the President of the Eastern Mediterranean Association of Medical Editors and the founding-editor of the Middle East Journal of Cancer and previous Editor-in-Chief of the Iranian Journal of Dermatology. Dr Handjani is also an editorial board member of several national and international journals. Recently, he has joined the Department of Dermatology at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust in the UK. He is very keen on teaching dermatology to nurses and other allied health professionals, medical students, general practitioners and dermatology registrars and has vast experience in doing that, as reflected by the several awards for teaching excellence that he has received in the past.
