Dr Oluwaseun (Seun) Esan
Dr Oluwaseun (Seun) Esan is an Epidemiologist with expertise in real-world observational studies. She is an NIHR School for Public Health Research Postdoctoral Launching Fellow within the Health Inequalities and Policy Research Unit at the University of Liverpool's Department of Public Health, Policy, and Systems. Her research examines the intersections of ethnic and socio-economic inequalities in maternal and child health. Seun has over 15 years of combined Public Health Service and Academia experience working across various healthcare domains including Public Health, Primary Care, Health Protection and Maternal and Child Health. She has a DPhil (PhD) from the University of Oxford, as well as a BSc. (Hons) in Microbiology and an MSc. in Clinical Microbiology, both obtained from the University of Nottingham. Seun has expertise in quantitative research methods and evidence synthesis. She has led and contributed to several projects, including those commissioned by policymakers such as the Department for Health and Social Care and the National Health Services Race and Health Observatory. Seun is passionate about research-led and researchinformed teaching and using evidence-based pedagogy approaches to ensure learning outcomes are achieved for all learners regardless of the learning styles of students and the format of the delivery. She currently teaches on critiquing healthcare data (bias), ethnic health inequalities and health protection at both undergraduate and graduate levels as well as student supervision and is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Authority.
